A major business at the Peterborough Airport will be spreading their wings even further. Flying Colours Corporation is currently constructing a new 20,000 square foot addition to one of their existing buildings to increase operations at the Peterborough Airport.

"With recent and on-going growth and infrastructure expansions, the support from local staff and council and the availability of serviced land, Peterborough was the logical choice for this expansion," stated John Gillespie, President & CEO, Flying Colours Corp, which also has a location in St. Louis. "We've been fortunate to be able to find a strong and loyal employee base in Peterborough with strong support from the post-secondary school system. We believe that will only continue to get stronger with the addition of the Seneca College's School of Aviation & Flight Technology opening at the airport in 2014." The Flying Colours expansion will allow the company to hire 15-25 new employees in the areas of interior, maintenance, and engineering. Currently, the company employs 200 staff at their location in Peterborough.

"The Business Case and the Master Plan for the airport expansion were developed to build the airport as an economic driver. Seeing our current tenants expand and become more successful using the new airport infrastructure to support their success is extremely rewarding. We are so pleased to be able to work with our local businesses to help them realize this type of growth," said Nancy Hewitt, Airport Administrator for the City of Peterborough.

Airport Manager Trent Gervais states, "The Peterborough Airport has seen a tremendous amount of infrastructure growth since 2007. Construction has been on-going to ensure that we continue to be seen as an attractive location for businesses that are looking to expand or locate. Over the past 2 years we have seen the results of those efforts. The new Flying Colours building and the addition of 15-25 jobs exemplifies the type of opportunities that now exist at the airport."
