The City of Peterborough welcomes the Faculty and Staff of the newest Peterborough Airport tenant, the Seneca College School of Aviation. This week classes commenced at the newly built Seneca Campus which is now substantially complete and 100% occupied.

We are very pleased to welcome the Seneca College School of Aviation and its faculty and students to our community. When research and planning began for the expansion and creation of new industrial lands at the Peterborough Airport, it was identified early on that the location would be ideal for an educational institution. This week we see the fruits of our labours and the culmination of a great deal of work by City and Airport staff, contractors, consultants and many others,” stated Peterborough Mayor Daryl Bennett. “This is proof that we are heading in the right direction and that the Peterborough Airport will be a major economic driver for our region.”

The Peterborough Campus is the new home to Seneca’s Bachelor of Aviation Technology senior classes. The school will be accessed daily by approximately 150 students and 50 faculty. The new school positions Seneca to continue to deliver high quality aviation programs, connect students with job opportunities and meet the future needs of the industry.

The Peterborough Airport is home to approximately 20 commercial and several private tenants. The airport has experienced substantial growth and infrastructure improvements over the past four years with the assistance of the Federal, Provincial and Municipal Governments. Home to the longest runway between Toronto and Ottawa, the Peterborough Airport is a full-service facility catering to both business and general aviation use.
