Air Legends at Peterborough Airport - July 23 to August 5, 2018

Visit the Peterborough Airport for a once in a lifetime aviation experience.  Two WWII era aircraft will be on site offering flights, ground tours, and sharing the storied history of these war birds. The event will be open to the public offering opportunities to see other vintage aircraft on display, witness live emergency exercises, take in a car & motorcycle display and wander the tarmac of the largest civilian run-way between Toronto and Ottawa.

Air Legends will feature static aircraft displays, ground tours, Q&A’s with experts and flight experiences (pre-booked – additional fee) as well as a licensed lounge and a variety of special events. In lieu of admission fees to the grounds, donations will be accepted in support of the Brock Mission men’s shelter in Peterborough.

B-25 (Mitchell) Bomber – “Maid in the Shade”B25 Maid in the Shade Airplane
The Arizona Commemorative Air Force Museum’s “Flying Legends of Victory Tour” offers a rare opportunity for the public to climb aboard this WWII era B25 Bomber when it lands at the Peterborough Airport from July 23rd – July 29th.  Tours and viewing of the plane will be available daily from 9am - 5pm.  Visit https://www.azcaf.org/location/peterborough-tour-stop/ for more details about the Arizona Commemorative Air Force Flying Legends of Victory Tour and B-25 “Maid in the Shade”.

 

B-29 Superfortress Bomber – “Fifi”B-29 Superfortress Bomber - Fifi
The Commemorative Air Force “Airpower History Tour” lands at the Peterborough Airport July 30th, and will be available to the public from Aug 1 – Aug 5th, 9am - 5pm.  Visitors will have the opportunity to tour and schedule a flight in one of the most historic and important examples of aviation technology.   • Car & Motorcycle Display
    Date: Saturday, August 4th, and Sunday, August 5th.
  • COPA – Canadian Owners and Pilots Association (COPA) will fly in to be part of the attraction offering a fascinating array of aircraft on display.

  • Live Emergency Exercises – Presented by Loomex
    The Loomex Group will conduct two live emergency exercises using their mobile 44ft jet simulator. Emergency exercises are an important training tool for airport staff and first responders in the event of large scale aviation emergencies.

  • Gibson’s Finest Pilot Lounge
    Food and beverages services available on site.
  • Run on the Runway
    Join us for a 10k, 5k and 1k run/walk on the 7,000 ft runway at Peterborough Airport. This is a fundraiser for the Brock Mission.
    Date: 7:00 am on Sunday, August 5th.

Ground tours, and a limited number of flight seats are available on Media day.  Each flight will host special Media events upon arrival in Peterborough.  Contact Lorne Kelsey to confirm media flight seats.
