The Peterborough Airport will be hosting two major events this weekend: The Global Angel Charitable Organization’s Pulling for Patients Challenge and the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association (COPA) Annual General Meeting. Both of these events are expected to draw many people to the airport on Saturday, June 21 , 2014.

Peterborough Airport staff have been working steadily to pre pare the grounds and work out the logistics surrounding hosting the two major events this Saturday.

“We are extremely proud that the Peterborough Airport is being recognized as a favourable location for events such as Pulling for Patients and the COPA Annual General Meeting,” stated Trent Gervais, Airport Manager. “Our staff have been working diligently to ensure that everything runs smoothly and safely. We have a good understanding of the needs of both groups and we are confident that they have been addressed to ensure that everyone enjoys themselves this weekend.”

Pulling for Patients Challenge is expected to draw approximately 500 participants and spectators to the airport as teams pull a 40,000 lb. Bombardier aircraft. The event also includes a fly i n breakfast with local Chef Brian Henry, a wide variety of vendors, music and activities for all ages. Global Angel assists families with special flight coordination and financial assistance for medical and ground transportation to allow for access to life - saving treatments, a ride home or a special wish for patients.

The COPA Annual General Meeting will see approximately 400 members arriving for a day of networking and education. Many of whom will be arriving by aircraft. Their agenda includes an update from the association, safety seminars, an awards ceremony and information sessions. For more information, please visit www.copanational.org. The Peterborough Airport will continue to be open for regular business and air traffic. Parking has been arranged at the airport but we encourage spectators and participants to car pool if possible.

The Peterborough Airport, owned by the City of Peterborough and operated by The Loomex Group, is home to approximately 20 commercial and many private tenants. The airport ha s experienced substantial growth and infrastructure improvements over the past four years with the assistance of the Federal, Provincial and Municipal Governments. Home to the longest runway between Toronto and Ottawa, the Peterborough Airport is a full-service facility catering to both business and general aviation use.
